Our Advanced Myopia Management Treatment Method: Ortho-K

Take back clear vision with Ortho-K, our primary treatment method for myopia. Ortho-K is a special type of contact lens that gently reshapes the eyes while your child sleeps. This gives them clearer vision the next day and counteracts unhealthy eye growth.

What is Myopia Control?

Myopia is a progressive and irreversible eye disease that leads to difficulty seeing distant objects clearly. It is a symptom of your child’s eyes stretching longer and faster than they should. The longer it gets, the weaker their eyes become both optically and structurally. Myopia control is a therapeutic treatment process where we slow down that abnormal elongation and stretching of your child’s eyes.

Does My Child Need These Treatments?

Your child is growing, which is wonderful, but we want to make sure their eyes don’t grow longer than they should. MiSight and CRT are designed to not only correct your child’s vision but slow down their Myopia from getting worse, leaving them at risk for developing major complications down the road (ex. cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment).

What is MiSight?

MiSight is a myopia treatment in the form of a daily disposable contact lens with a small design to help slow down your child’s progressing vision while simultaneously correcting their vision so they can see clearly throughout the day.

What is CRT?

CRT is a treatment lens that gently reshapes the cornea while your child sleeps. It’s only worn at night and provides a treatment to slow down the progression of your child’s myopia, while simultaneously correcting their vision, so they can see without any corrective glasses or contacts during the day.

How Long Will My Child Be in These Lenses?

They can continue to wear it into adulthood as that will allow freedom to do activities without glasses or contacts during the day. We will monitor your child’s eyes annually.

Are There Other Treatments My Child Can Receive While Using MiSight or CRT?

Of course. We typically start with one treatment and then add another, evaluating the efficacy at each step. The best combination would be MiSight or CRT with atropine drops. Studies have shown that combining treatments can have an additive effect in reducing myopia progression.

MV Optometric center is incredible. I was a patient at their sister store La.Paz Optometry. Dr Walsh is amazing. She takes her time to go over every test / result, answer any questions you may have. The optical staff is top notch as well (I'm sorry, I'm horrible remembering names). Went over all options regarding insurance coverage, in my case including any discounts for an added pair of Rx sunglasses. They didn't try to force the most expensive of everything on me, which never happens. Will definitely be back and recommend MVO to my family and friends.

When Dr Chi took over the practice, I felt he had big shoes to fill after Dr Cooperman retired. I couldn't be more impressed. I love all the updated testing equipment and the fabulous staff. (Special shout out to Samantha, and her consistent cheerful attitude.) Dr Chi gives one of the most thorough exams I have ever had. I do pay out of pocket to have the retinal photograph done each year, as diabetes is a scourge in my family, and Dr Chi would be the first to identify it via that test! We moved from 7 minuets away to 25 minuets away, and we still drive down in order to get the care we are used to from Brookhurst Optometric

This is literally your “Friendly Neighborhood Optometrist. “ From the minute you walk in they treat you like family. Greeting you by your name. The front staff is very warm and friendly. Doctor Chi on my yearly eye exam discovered on the screening retinal pictures a tear in my left retina with possible retinal detachment. He assisted in contacting my Primary Care Provider and because of his efforts I got an urgent referral to a retinal specialist who was able to save my vision in the eye. I usually don’t post but Brookhurst Optometric Center has exceeded my expectations. It used to be a different owner but they did a wonderful job continuing the service. Dr Chi is so helpful with my contact lens’s examination. He made sure I understood the changes and he answered all my questions. Sam is the most accommodating and helped me with all my requests. Such a wonderful experience with this office. Definitely will come back again.

La Paz Optometric is great! The staff there is amazing and you can tell they care about the patients and the business. Dr Sako was so nice and knowledgeable. He made me feel comfortable every step of the way. The office is state of the art and I had so many more test and procedures than at other places. I highly recommended this office!

Was greeted by the receptionist as soon as I entered the store. She was expecting me and was prepared to start on a series of tests, which she administered. Following these tests, I was ushered into the optical testing room where I met Dr. Chi. He administered the eye tests, decided on the corrections to my existing lenses, and handed them off to the lady who would do my glasses fitting. He also went over the test results that peeked into my eyes (no dilation required!) which indicated I was free from any bad stuff. I was allowed to keep my sunglasses frames (which I liked) and received the new glasses (sunglasses and clear) one week later. Wearing the new glasses now and am delighted with them. Pleasant and efficient operation which I recommend to anyone.

My first appointment at MV Optometric Center was a great experience overall.
Each one of the staff was great. Sarah, Jennifer and Dr. Amanda Walsh were all so pleasant and made me feel very comfortable. They were also very informative and explained everything perfectly.

After going to Costco optical for the last 10 years, my friend referred me to this place. WOW, I've been missing out. It is a fabulous place to get your eyes checked and get contacts/glasses. The doctors and front office staff are amazing, they make you feel like family. Even when my 14 year old daughter wanted to wear contacts, they spent almost 2hrs with her teaching her how to put them on, with no complaints or frustrations. They were so patient and so lovely with her. I love this place and will recommend it to all of my friends & family.

Had a great time at the office! The staff, Rene and Jody are super nice, accommodating, and making me feel at ease. Dr. Hsieh was just as nice, very thorough in her exam, and took the time to answer all my questions.

The office also has a wide selection of glasses to choose from. The whole team (including the doctor!) were happy to help give their input so I could select the frame that best fit me.

Would recommend this optometry office to anyone wanting to get an stress free eye exam with a great office attitude and friendly faces!

Yesterday I had my routine eye exam. Not really sure where to start with this review. The crew was amazing, professional and kind. They took their time in running all the tests and explained everything in details. After completing all the tests, Dr. Walsh took her time with me to address all the concerns, prescribe the best lenses for my glasses and contacts. They by far the most professional optometry center I’ve ever dealt with. As a patient never been that happy. Simply if you have vision challenges. That’s the place you want to be to get your treatment.
So glad that I found my optometry center.
The most highly recommended vision center. If there was more then 5 stars I would have definitely gave it to the team.
That’s the place you should go to if you want to walk out with a smile on your face. They magically know how to draw a fat one on your face.

I went in for my annual exam. I expected to be greeted by a friendly staff and I certainly was! I was told Dr Cooperman himself retired which was no problem for me as I have never met him and was always examined by another doctor on staff. I must say that this crew working there is very friendly and professional. My appointment was on time, and I felt very well taken care of. I felt like they took the time to make sure I was getting the best service. The entire staff seems very knowledgeable and efficient. I would certainly recommend this office to anyone!

What a fantastic office! 100% positive experience.
1. The ease of online appointment scheduling and patient forms
2. Friendly staff at the reception area
3. Technician administering visual tests extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
4. Dr. Michael Lum clearly explained my results and my options so that I would receive the right prescription for my multiple visual needs
5. Huge selection of frames to choose from which could have been overwhelming but Erin hand selected many for me to choose from and between us we were able to quickly find the perfect pair.
I have never been excited to go to for an eye exam or to pick out glasses but I now look forward to my appointments at this office.

Husband has an urgent need to have his eye looked at, no appointment… the office scheduled him for next day, but asked him to stick around for a bit as they worked on getting him in sooner. He was seen later in the day and given a very thorough examination and testing. They went above and beyond for him.
In addition, we have experienced the staff to be very professional, patient and kind when calling to change or make appointments. Also when checking in to be seen.
The office is very clean

LaPaz Optometric is a wonderful practice, both for regular eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses, and also for more complex well eye visits. I've had two eye related health issues in the last 18 months, and both times the team here was able to quickly fit me in, do a thorough exam, and leave me treatment and guidance that made me confident in the health of my eyes. Plus, everyone is so friendly, I don't ever have to sit around and wait, the equipment is very modern and confidence inspiring, and all three doctors I've met are very knowledgeable, great with patients, and just plain nice people! Highly recommend!

Wonderful vision center and I would recommend it to everyone. The staff are always super friendly and professional. The Optometrist is always asking about your concerns, issues, or any questions you may have. Plus they have a huge selection of glasses to pick from.

I give two thumbs up to the dedicated office staff. I would recommend the Brookhurst Optometric Center to anyone who needs immediate vision care. I was a previous patient and hadn’t been seen for 1.5 year. I took a chance a walked in hoping to be seen.
I was greeted by Jacob who was warm and welcoming. I explained my vision problem and he asked if I wanted to be seen today. I said “yes”. Jacob checked my insurance and explained me the tests that would be performed. He was so kind and helpful. I was seen 30 minutes later and had a full eye exam and was fitted for contacts. I was so thrilled. I was seen by Dr Chi. Excellent Optometrist. He was very patience with me and explained and answered every question I had. He even assisted me by plucking sn ingrown hair from my eyelid. Wow! I checked out with the girls who were delightful . I had the best experience. The entire office staff was friendly and very helpful. Stop by and see them! You”ll be happy you did.

I had a good experience at this office for my eye exam. I've been having a little trouble seeing my phone with my glasses and Dr. Chi gave me a solution on my new ones. The staff were also very helpful since I walking in the door to me choosing
a new frame. They treats me like a family instead of another patient. Not having to dilate this year because of the tech they have might be one of the best part.

I've been coming to this optometry establishment for years, and have always had nothing short of a positive experience. They are now under new management, but the service provided is still exceptional.

I booked my annual eye exam, and was going in feeling comfortable. On our call, Jody had asked me to make sure to bring my mask and to fill out some paperwork via email prior to my appointment, to reduce contact and time spent in the office. Upon arrival, I was asked to call the front desk to assure that I would be socially-distanced and everything was cleaned before entering. Once entered, Jody took my temperature and then walked me through some eye tests. She made sure to wipe all of the equipment down before use, which was very assuring. I then walked into my exam, and there was a sign on the chair before sitting down stating that it had been cleaned. I had an eye exam with Dr. Hsieh, and was extremely happy with her professionalism and knowledge. We ended up trying out some new contacts! James checked the schedule and had me book a 1-week follow-up appointment to make sure that they were to my satisfaction before ordering them.

I came back a week later with no problems, and ended up purchasing a year supply of contacts (which were shipped to my house promptly - in less than a week).

Overall, they are one business that is following COVID guidelines well, and I will continue to give them my service!
