Optician / Apprentice Optician
Salary: $40,000.00 — $60,000.00 per year
Join our growing private practice! We’re looking for someone who’s qualified and enthusiastic to come aboard our tight-knit team. We have an immediate opening for an optician or an apprentice optician and are willing to train the right person. As an optician, your focus is to create energy and excitement around products and services by providing the right solution for our patients’ lifestyle. We have been serving our community for over 50 years and need someone who will be confident in delivering outstanding customer service to our new and loyal patients. This is a type of office where every day is an opportunity to learn something new and grow. Your passion, along with full optical and sales training, will ensure your success!
Schedule: 8-hour shift
Supplemental pay types: Bonus pay
Experience: Optical or sales: 1 year (Preferred)
Education: High school diploma with on-the-job training or apprenticeship certificate, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree in opticianry for career advancement

What You’ll Do
- Answer phones, book appointments, data entry
- Measure clients’ bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes, using measuring devices
- Evaluate prescriptions in conjunction with clients’ requirements
- Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit client needs
- Assist clients in selecting frames according to style and color, and ensure that frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions
- Instruct clients on how to wear and care for eyeglasses
- Glasses adjustment and repairs
- Fabricate lenses to meet prescription specifications
- Contact lens training
- Prepare work orders and instructions for grinding lenses and fabricating eyeglasses and verify quality of finished lenses
- Heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients, using pliers and hands
- Maintain records of customer prescriptions, work orders, and payments
Customer Service Specialist / Reception
Salary: $38,000.00 — $60,000.00 per year (contingent on experience)
We are seeking the right candidate who is looking for a long-term employment opportunity as a friendly optometric technician at our busy optometry office. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, outgoing, motivated, able to multi-task and eager to learn and grow with us and possibly make it a career. This role requires you to be able to work some Saturdays.

Candidate has to be ready to learn the basics of eyeglass adjustments and repairs, verifying eyeglass and contact lens prescription orders. The ideal candidate must enjoy working with others (patients and other employees), have excellent/polite verbal/communication skills, and can multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

- Understanding of how to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventative healthcare measures
- Ability to physically sit for long periods and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Specific visual abilities: close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

What You’ll Do
- Test and measure patient’s acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus, ocular movement and color as requested by physician
- Measure intraocular pressure of eyes with a glaucoma test, and measure axial length of the eye using ultrasound equipment
- Use slit lamp to examine eye for abnormalities of cornea and anterior or posterior chambers
- Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes
- Instruct patient in eye care, use of glasses or contact lenses, and vision therapy using eye exercises
- Obtain and record patient’s preliminary case history
- Adjust and repair glasses, using screwdrivers and pliers
- Assist patient in frame selection
- Help coworkers in fabrication of eyeglasses or contact lenses
- Develop visual skills, near-visual discrimination, and depth perception, using developmental glasses
- Maintain records and inventory of materials, schedule appointments, perform bookkeeping, correspondence, and filing
- Clean instruments
